Katherine of Aragon : What did I do to upset you, that a maid of mine should turn against me like this? Anne Boleyn : You failed to give England an heir. Katherine of Aragon : And that upsets you so? Anne Boleyn : What upsets the King, upsets me. Katherine of Aragon : Let me tell you this. You want me to lie before God, and admit my first marriage was consummated? Well, it was not. You want me to retire, and withdraw my daughter’s claim as sole rightful heir to the throne?
Well, I shall not. Not in a thousand years. Not if you rack me within an inch of my life. So, I hope you have the belly for a fight, Anne Boleyn, because I’ll fight you, every inch of the way. Crazy credits Helena Bonham Carter receives second-billing in both parts despite Anne Boleyn getting the chop in the first part. Her contribution in part 2 is the pre-title reprise and flashbacks all already shown in part 1. User reviews 45 Review. Featured review. Yet another gross distortion of history. I second most of the comments already made about the historical inaccuracy of this program, but want to add yet another quibble: the scenes that purport to show the dissolution of the monasteries.
What a bunch of hooey! I thought I was watching a scene from some movie of the Vikings raiding and pillaging the English coast. What actually happened was that inspectors were sent around and anything of value was methodically stripped and either taken for the royal treasury or sold; the monasteries were then pulled down, bells were melted, etc. It’s true that servants were turned off without work, causing hardship; it’s also true that those who were especially obdurate were tried and executed, but the slashing swords and burning monks fleeing from buildings were complete inventions of the filmmakers.
I just don’t see the point–fiction is the name for this not even historical fiction–just fiction. Details Edit. Release date October 12, United Kingdom. United Kingdom. Enrique VIII.
